I am appalled by the writers of these articles lack of research. Charles and Masako have met before, they were both at the Belgian royal wedding in 1999. She isn't suffering from agoraphobia as she seen out and about. A previous criticism of her was that she was seen regularily horse riding in the Palace compound where several royals live. This month alone she has appeared in public on 5 occasions, 3 of them official engagements. If the Japanese press can't at this photo session remember the last time Masako greeted a foreign royal then they don't read their own articles! Dutch prince Willem-Alexander visited Naruhito and Masako in their home in early 2007 when he was in Japan for a water conference. Masako also had dinner with all the visiting royals in 2005, the year of the Expo. The Japanese press has all the photos of Naruhito, Masako and Aiko on their visits to Imperial holiday villa, they visit different ones at 3 times a year at least with photo ops at the train stations on each occasion. She's hardly reclusive, especially since she is actually carrying out royal engagements.
