The Duke of Edinburgh today attended the funeral of his brother-in-law, Berthold, the Margrave of Baden.   The funeral took place in Salem, Germany, according to Reuters.

The late Margrave was buried in the family cemetery after the funeral service, which took place at Schloss Salem.

More than 300 guests attended the funeral, including Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia and King Paul and Queen Frederika of Greece, Archduke Otto of Austria, and Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia.

The Margrave died of a heart attack on October 27, while being driven from Baden-Baden to Schloss Salem.  In 1931, he married Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark, the second daughter of the late Prince and Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark.   He was the son of Prince Max of Baden, the last Imperial Chancellor, and Princess Marie Louise of Cumberland.

The Margrave is survived by his widow, two sons, Prince Max and Prince Ludwig, and his daughter, Princess Margarita, who is married to Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia.
