Warning: this may scare you

This new portrait of the Danish Royal family by Thomas Kluge is meant to be the modern day Laurits Tuxen.  Don't think so.  Prince Christian reminds me of Damien in The Omen.

It´s terrible !!! a kind of Addams Family. But is it new ? Athena, Vincent and Josephine are very small. Probably it was taken last year.

These pictures are super creepy! Did no one look at the proofs? This looks more like a horror movie promo than a royal family portrait. If they were looking at scaring their people, its a winner. And who knew little Damien was still around?

I get what your saying but is an amazing painting just the same.

it is a painting, 150 years since the Tuxen. Not a photograph. Took 4 years to paint

Who commissioned this? Stephen King? Just dreadful.

Thank you for the warning. Super creepy in so many ways. Good reason why there hasn't been a family portrait since the 1880's.

oh my goodness, he totally does! and i'm honestly wondering why they even allowed it to be published in such a prominent way. (it's on the website's homepage!) the Crown Prince couple's kids are absolutely ADORABLE but Isabella looks like she's gotten into mommy's blush, and Christian... well... you said it perfectly. Josephine & Vincent look like they were painted from their first birthday pictures. and Athena looks rather young as well. little Henrik looks like he did at around the time Athena was born, and with Nikolai & Felix it's hard to tell. you can DEFINITELY tell it was painted over years and not in a sitting. and the background? i guess it's meant to reflect the background in the original portrait, but it makes the whole thing even worse. at least if it was in a typical royal portrait setting it would look somewhat normal... the background is what really does it for me. like there's been an apocalypse & the royal family has survived or something... like a movie poster. i hate how you can tell they are all really separate and it's put into one picture - they weren't all there at the same time or place.

the one good thing i WILL say is that it took me a minute to realize it was a painting rather than a weird picture/photoshop creation. they are incredibly lifelike, especially the adults! only Isabella looks kind of "fake" to me. so the painter IS talented, just very strange to me.
