Preparing your daughter's wedding

It is not easy to prepare for your daughter's wedding as Elisabeth, Princess of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg is learning, according to an interview with the Main Echo.

On June 24, 2017,  Princess Sophie of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg will marry Count Constantin Fugger von Babenhausen, 30, at Wertheim's Stiftkirche.

Princess Elisabeth is wrestling with three separate invitation lists: the Polterabend on the eve of the wedding, the church wedding and the reception that follows, and, the third wedding reception which will take place in the evening after the wedding.

"There will be some officials, but I do want to name names," Princess Elisabeth said.  She did acknowledge that several relatives, for whom "exorbitant security precautions" would be needed, have not received invitations.

The guest list will be a "Who's Who" of German aristocracy, and will include guests from Germany, the USA, Great Britain, France and Belgium.   One can expect members of the Oldenburg, Leiningen, Croy, Waldburg, Ortenburg, Brandenstein, Lobkowicz, Prussia, Isenburg, Schaumburg-Lippe, Oettingen, Castell-Rüdenhausen, Hohenzollern, among others.

Finding accommodation for all the guests has not been easy, Princess Elisabeth said, as the Wertheim area is a popular region for tourists in June.

The family has hired two caterers, one from Wertheim and the other from Würzburg.  "We have taken care that everything is supplied by local companies.  This starts with the security service, from flowers, food and drinks to the technology and the pavilion.

The Princess, born Countess Elisabeth of von Waldburg zu Wolfegg und Waldsee, went to boarding school with the groom's mother, the American-born Princess Marie Elisabeth (Miriam) Lobkowicz.

"That's how long the families have known each other," she said.

Princess Sophie had planned to rework and wear her mother's wedding gown. She changed her mind, and decided to have a gown made in Munich.  Sophie will continue the family tradition and wear a veil of Brussels lace made in 1860 that all "Löwenstein-Madels" have worn at their weddings.

Princess Elisabeth said that this will be a "nice big family party, and hopefully a big party."    She hopes the weather will be nice.

June 23: 7:p.m  Polterabend at Schloss Kreuzwertheim.  The invitation includes a dress code: traditional costumes or dirndls (the latter for the women).

June 24: The wedding ceremony will start at 11:15 a.m., at the Stiftskirche in Wertheim.  Following the wedding ceremony,  500 guests will be guided by the Franconia Herolds through the town center to the schloss for the reception.

The Brautsoiree will begin at 7:30 p.m., at the schloss.  Three hundred people have been invited to this reception, which will be held on the schoss's grounds.
